That’s a good question. I can’t say I’ve been particularly busy, and that’s part of the reason I think that I haven’t put anything up in a while. The other thing is that I’m finding myself more and more addicted to Facebook, so that’s where I’ve been spending most of my time. Also I’m finding that when I come home at night, I have absolutely no will to write anything.
But anyhoo…
Anyang’s becoming more respectable as the days go by. I’ll be honest, I still like Ansan more just for the convenience factor, but those days are past. I think I’m due for a night back at the Manhattan here soon, because those people are too great to forget. And my mad darts skills are probably getting a little rusty. Can’t have that.
I’ve spent the past couple of weekend’s just getting to know Anyang and some of the people that I work with. Things are picking up, but one thing’s clear: There are two camps at my school. There’s a group of 5 and a group of 7… I’m more in the group of 7 right now. I like the way that sounds… it makes it sound like a nice secret organization or something.
So yeah, things are getting better here. There’s just a different rhythm to life.

Like I mentioned earlier, hockey’s started up again. Couldn’t be happier about that, except I find myself in the unenviable position of goalie… If you check my facebook page, you can see two videos of me stopping shots. Luckily the videos of me not stopping shots aren’t there at the moment, but eventually they’ll surface.
I wouldn’t call myself exactly a good goalie, but I make do back there. I realized something fast… I’m not as nimble as I once was. It’s either that or the pads are much heavier than I remember. It hurts your pride a little bit when the ball goes in the net, but when you rob someone much better than you on a breakaway… oh that feels good.
So we’re two games into the season and the team’s 1-1. We won our first game pretty handily: 5-3. We scored fast and put then in a hole, and I played just well enough to keep us in it. The second game… wasn’t so nice. Got killed 5-1. I relaxed a bit at the end of the start of the game and next thing I knew I had let in three goals. The team we were playing was pissed about losing the first game, so they came out strong and I didn’t. No big deal… it was nice to get that first win anyway. Took a lot of pressure off.
So now my Sunday’s are back to being pretty much my favorite day of the week. Hockey really gives me something to look forward to for the rest of the week. The Mondays, like most Mondays, are terrible. My body’s still not used to playing goal, so no matter how much stretching I do, I’m walking like a 90 year old man on Monday. That and those pads only cover so much and some of these guys playing college hockey… so their slap shots are strong. I have quite an interesting collection of welts on my arms and legs right now. Hey, chicks dig bruises right?… wait no, that’s scars. Well crap.
Speaking of chicks… I’m two months in with my girl Seung Hee. She’s still an absolute sweetheart… quickie example. Last Friday I went out with the people from work. Ended up having a few too many and wasn’t feeling particularly human the next day. We were supposed to go to a museum (my idea) which I nixed and pushed to today. Instead, she comes over here with pizza, chips, and a coke to make me feel better. We end up laying around watching movies all day… She’s just the sweetest girl in the world.
I will say this… it’s really strange at times dating a Korean… culturally, there’s a big difference. I’ll have to get into that later, because I’ve gotta go get ready for the museum trip that I bailed on last week. National Museum of Korea… and the battery is working in my camera today. At least it was when I checked. So with any luck I’ll have some sweet pictures up soon.
