We’re within a week of you guys touching down on foreign soil. It’ll be a heck of a trip over here, that’s for sure. With that in mind, I thought I’d finally get off my tail and put together a survival/information guide to Korea. Cultural Things: Koreans like Neon. It’s one of the first things [...]

Matt’s Mandated Korean Cultural Adventure! Part 1

It’s exactly what the headline says, it’s time for a mandated Korean Cultural Adventure! Basically, I was given a hell of present from my principal last week when she decided to give me the week off. It came with a catch… I just have to spend the week doing cultural things. Not a bad deal. [...]
Random thoughts from the cold…

It’s not particularly hard to describe a Korean winter. Two words: cold, dry. That’s all you really need. But that really doesn’t do it justice. This is by far the coldest place that I’ve ever lived. I describe a Korean Winter as “curse inducing.” It’s the type of cold where you walk outside and the [...]
Chaos update…

The skies and roads are clearing… sort of. The roads are because of the sheer amount of people that have been driving over them along with some fortuitous sunshine, so where’s it not one giant snowpacked lane you can start to see the black on the pavement. Chances are it’s all black ice, but beggars [...]

Yep, guess it’s time to make the normal apology for not posting anything new lately. Can’t say I’ve been busy, but I’ve been… well lazy to be honest. Shouldn’t have been too unexpected. So moving on to more important matters… Today was the first day of having to be back at work. Now notice I [...]

Halloween was a blast. There are a ton of pictures around facebook of that absolute craziness, so hop on over there to check them out. I might try to put them on here if I have the time, but it’s just so much easier to upload them there. There was one negative about Halloween though, and [...]
Korea-Japan, Round 5

There’s no other way to put it… things are crazy here right now. There’s nothing that Korea likes more than beating Japan in anything, and now they’ve got another chance. I’ll say this, watching the game right now in my apartment, and I can hear cheering coming from outside. The WBC is working… Go Korea. [...]

I realized that’s there’s more than a couple of you who can’t see the pictures from this weekend, so I’ll pop them all up here now, with additional commentary!!! Enjoy: The front entrance… cute girl at the bottom of the screen would be with me. Everland’s an interesting place… part theme park, part zoo… they [...]

For those of you on Facebook, I just uploaded a bunch of pictures from my trip to Everland, the biggest amusement park in Korea. It was fun… but it just so happened that we picked a beautiful day with perfect weather when they were deciding to work on two of their big roller coasters. Bastards. [...]
